The company
Founded in 2013, Cailabs designs, manufactures, and develops innovative photonic solutions for the space, industry, telecommunications, and defense sectors. A global specialist in laser shaping, the company has accelerated its growth in the space field with turnkey optical ground stations that integrate atmospheric turbulence compensation technology. This makes it one of the first companies to harness very high data rates enabled by optics in a commercial ground station.
Cailabs currently has over 120 employees, including 32 PhDs. With 26 patent families filed, the company is one of the most innovative companies in France. It is headquartered in Rennes, with offices in Paris and Washington (USA).
Internship description
Laser communications are the next generation of secure, high-speed communications. Dedicated to optical communications in free space, the TILBA solution improves the reliability of satellite, naval, aeronautical (aircraft, drones) and terrestrial links.
You will work in the R&D team under the responsibility of an optical R&D engineer. The aim of the internship project is to develop and improve an optical free-space communication prototype for horizontal links.
Your work will benefit the entire R&D department by addressing optical problems in the field of free-space optics and space.
Your objective will be to develop and test technological building blocks in order to propose improvements to an existing free-space optical communication prototype: tracking and correction of misalignment, laser emission and amplification, spatial shaping, detection, integration, integration in an external environment. You will carry out experimental tests on an optical bench and in the field.
You will have the opportunity to use and improve your scientific knowledge, and you will learn to work as part of a company team on specific topics.
