The company
Founded in 2013, Cailabs designs, manufactures, and develops innovative photonic solutions for the space, industry, telecommunications, and defense sectors. A global specialist in laser shaping, the company has accelerated its growth in the space field with turnkey optical ground stations that integrate atmospheric turbulence compensation technology. This makes it one of the first companies to harness very high data rates enabled by optics in a commercial ground station.
Cailabs currently has 150 employees, including 35 PhDs. With 29 patent families filed, the company is one of the most innovative companies in France. It is headquartered in Rennes, with offices in Paris and Washington (USA).
Post description
The CANUNDA product line consists of innovative laser beam-shaping systems designed to optimize laser machining processes such as welding, additive manufacturing, drilling, or surface texturing. They are intended for demanding industrial use, requiring high reliability and robustness.
The multidisciplinary CANUNDA R&D team brings together diverse expertise in optics, mechanics, electronics, methods, and systems.
The team focuses on developing prototypes and products at various levels of technological maturity, from proof of concept to series production.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of optical modules that enable spatial shaping of light to optimize laser machining processes.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Design spatial beam-shaping solutions: Create optical solutions for spatial shaping of laser beams, ensuring their reliability and compatibility with industrial processes.
- Prototype testing: Experimentally test prototypes through setup, alignment, and characterization of their optical performance.
- Thermomechanical considerations: Manage thermomechanical aspects related to the stability and robustness of optical alignment under high laser power.
- Product development lifecycle: Follow product development from initial design through production ramp-up, including installation and providing technical support during customer qualification phases.
- Customer interactions: Engage in discussions with industrial clients to understand their application needs and translate those into technical requirements.
- Continuous improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement of these products, working closely with production teams to ensure industrial maturity and smooth transfer to manufacturing.
