Your Mission
Help bring next-generation optical ground stations and space communications solutions to the U.S. market.
As a Satellite Ground Solutions Engineer, you will support the technical execution of major optical communication programs in the United States, from proposal and program kick-off through deployment, operations and sustainment.
You will serve as a key technical interface between U.S. customers and Cailabs’ engineering, product, program management and operations teams in France and the U.S.
What You’ll Do
- Support technical activities for optical ground stations and other optical communication solutions in the U.S.
- Act as a technical point of contact for commercial and U.S. government customers.
- Contribute to customer meetings, technical demonstrations, program reviews and proposal teams.
- Translate customer needs into clear technical requirements and practical solutions.
- Develop technical plans, link budgets, requirements, verification matrices and compliance documentation.
- Communicate program status, technical performance and key risks to internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify execution barriers, risks and opportunities, and help define effective mitigation strategies.
- Support the installation, integration and deployment of Cailabs solutions in the U.S.
- Work across functions to ensure technical solutions remain aligned with customer requirements throughout execution.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the free-space optical communications market, emerging technologies and industry trends.
Location: United States, Arlington Virginia
Travel: Approximately 25% within the U.S. and to France
Salary: $140,000 to $200,000 per year
Benefits: 24 days of PTO, 401(k) retirement plan and health insurance
Due to the nature of our U.S. government and defense activities, this position requires U.S. citizenship. An active U.S. government security clearance is a plus.

What You Bring
- Strong experience in satellite ground systems, optical communications, aerospace or a related field.
- Ability to perform link budget analyses.
- Experience supporting complex customer-facing technical programs.
- Strong technical planning, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical topics in clear business terms.
- Customer-focused mindset and sound judgment in dynamic environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across U.S. and French teams.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25%.
Nice to Have
- Experience with both commercial and U.S. government customers.
- An active U.S. government security clearance.
- Experience modeling or simulating optical systems and architectures.
- A master’s degree or PhD in optical communications or a related field.
- Experience working in an international environment.
- French language skills.
