The company
Founded in 2013, Cailabs designs, manufactures, and develops innovative photonic solutions for the space, industry, telecommunications, and defense sectors. A global specialist in laser shaping, the company has accelerated its growth in the space field with turnkey optical ground stations that integrate atmospheric turbulence compensation technology. This makes it one of the first companies to harness very high data rates enabled by optics in a commercial ground station.
Cailabs currently has more than 200 employees, including 41PhDs. With 29 patent families filed, the company is one of the most innovative companies in France. It is headquartered in Rennes, with offices in Paris and Washington (USA).
Post description
Free-space optical communications enable high-speed point-to-point links using highly directional beams. The TILBA®-LOS product addresses this challenge by combining optical performance, pointing accuracy, and physical link security.
You will work within the technical team, under the supervision of one or more optical R&D engineers. The internship aims to study, implement, and characterize solutions to improve the setup, stability, and performance of a point-to-point free-space optical link.
The work may cover various aspects of a free-space optical communication system, including:
- Performance characterization and correlation with meteorological data.
- Experimental implementation and validation.
- Development of test setups.
- Data analysis and processing.
- Investigation of solutions to improve system performance and robustness.
This internship has a strong experimental focus, complemented by numerical data processing. It will give you the opportunity to work on a complete photonic system, from test preparation through to the interpretation and presentation of results.
