Post description

You will take technical and line management responsibility for a small team within the Microfabrication Department. This department plays a key role in mastering and advancing the manufacturing and metrology processes for ultra-high-precision optical components developed and produced by Cailabs.

Your main mission is to ensure the robustness, innovation, and industrial transfer of manufacturing and metrology processes, while contributing to the orientation of R&D technical and strategic decisions.

As such, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Becoming an expert in the department’s know-how, manufacturing processes, and metrology tools;

  • Applying this expertise within the Engineering Department to optimize processes and ensure reliable optical manufacturing;

  • Actively contributing to the development of innovative manufacturing and metrology processes;

  • Providing technical support on complex manufacturing issues;

  • Participating in the transfer of processes from R&D to operations and industrialization;

  • Managing, structuring, and driving the R&D activities of the microfabrication department.

Profile required

  • Higher education degree (Engineering degree, PhD, or equivalent) in optics, photonics, microfabrication, or a related field;

  • Industrial experience and a strong interest in managing a small technical team;

  • Strong knowledge of optical manufacturing, nanofabrication, and/or metrology;

  • Ability to analyze, structure, and solve complex technical problems;

  • Comfortable communicating on technical topics in both French and English, written and spoken.

  • Strong sense of rigor and organization;

  • High interest in cutting-edge technical topics and strong scientific curiosity;

  • Ability to work independently while interacting with multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with or knowledge of Python and/or MATLAB programming.
